When to go to the Emergency Department

Most problems do not require an Emergency Department (ED) visit , however DO GO to the ER when you or your family member has a life-threatening emergency or risk to their health without immediate help.

Examples include:

  • When bleeding won’t stop
  • When breathing is hard
  • After a serious accident
  • After a convulsion that lasts more than 3 minutes
  • A fever over 102 degrees that is not responding to treatment
