Erik D. Stancofski, MD, is a board-certified general and trauma surgeon at Beebe Healthcare. He sees patients at Beebe General Surgery in Lewes and performs procedures at the Margaret H. Rollins Lewes Campus as well as at the Specialty Surgical Hospital in Rehoboth. Dr. Stancofski specializes in general surgery, minimally invasive robotic and laparoscopic surgery, colorectal surgery, and trauma care, offering standard surgical approaches to care as well as specialized robotic procedures. 

Education, Training, and Credentialing

Dr. Stancofski received his Doctor of Medicine from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon, and completed his general surgery residency at Saint Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Additionally, he earned his Master of Business Administration in Healthcare from George Washington University. Dr. Stancofski is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons.  He delivers annual lectures at the American University of Beirut Surgery Symposium, which engages more than 600 surgeons from the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East.

Earlier Work Experiences

Dr. Stancofski has been part of Beebe since 1998, working in various roles over the years, including Vice Chief of Surgery from 2006 to 2010. He has served as an attending general surgeon with Beebe Medical Group since 2018. Earlier in his career, Dr. Stancofski served as president and owner of Cape Surgical Associates, a private surgery practice in Millville, and Medical Director of Southern Delaware Surgery Center, where he oversaw quality of care delivered in the joint venture surgery center. 

Personal Interests

Dr. Stancofski believes that Beebe is a wonderful place to practice medicine because of its friendly, small-town feel with big-city, state-of-the-art facilities. Outside of surgery, he enjoys biking, swimming, hiking, traveling, and practicing yoga with his wife, who leads weekly yoga classes for Beebe employees. He is fluent in English, French, Arabic, and Italian, and is conversational in Spanish.
