Lt. Governor Bethany Hall-Long Visits Beebe Healthcare for Nurses Week
Beebe Healthcare welcomed Lt. Governor Bethany Hall-Long to the Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing on Tuesday.
Hall-Long, a Sussex County native and lifelong nurse and research scientist, was a distinguished lecturer as part of Beebe’s Nurses Week celebration, which runs from May 6-12. This year’s Nurses Week theme is “Nurses Make the Difference.”
“I want to say thank you to all Beebe nurses during this special week of the year, and also to Lt. Gov. Hall-Long for coming to our School of Nursing and sharing her insight and knowledge with our team,” said Karen Pickard, DNP, MSN, RN, CNE, NEA-BC, Director of the Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing & Clinical Professional Development at Beebe Healthcare.
“Beebe nurses and Bethany share a passion for educating the future nurses of our state and the willingness to address the health inequities that still exist in Sussex County and throughout Delaware.”
After the lecture at Beebe, Hall-Long joined Gov. John Carney and other distinguished leaders to sign the Nurses Week proclamation in Dover.
"From the bedside to board rooms, nurses are the glue that holds the health system together. Today, I had the chance speak with nurses across specialties, some in their first year and others in their 40th. Hearing about their experiences and their ‘why’ inspired me. As someone who was a candy striper at Beebe, this event was extremely special. I want to thank Director Stacey Harris, Director Karen Pickard, Dr. David Tam, and the entire Beebe Healthcare team for organizing this special convening in honor of National Nurses Week, and for working around the clock to ensure quality nursing education and equitable care for patients in Sussex County,” said Lt. Governor Bethany Hall-Long, PhD., RN.
